Release: More control over artwork prices and inquiries
This update gives you more control over how artwork prices and inquiry options appear on your Showcase and in catalogs.
Artwork prices and inquiries
- Choose separately whether visitors can see an artwork’s price and send an inquiry. You can accept inquiries while keeping prices hidden.
- Set shared defaults for your organization, customize individual catalogs, and make exceptions for individual artworks.
- Update several artworks together, filter your inventory by its price and inquiry settings, and keep these choices when importing or exporting artworks.
How to set up inquiries
- Set your shared default in Settings → Catalog, under Default commercial presentation, or from Showcase settings. These edit the same organization default. Choose Enable inquiries or Disable inquiries; choose price visibility separately.
- Choose a rule for each catalog. Use organization default follows your shared setting. You can instead enable or disable inquiries for that catalog. Disable inquiries blocks inquiries throughout that catalog, including artworks with their own Enable choice.
- Choose how each artwork behaves. Use surface default means Inherit: on your Showcase it follows the organization default; in a catalog it follows that catalog’s setting. If the catalog also inherits, it follows the organization default. Choose Enable or Disable on an artwork only when you want an exception; catalog restrictions still apply.
- Select Review changes to see the before-and-after result before saving. The list shows only artworks whose public price or inquiry result changes. When Preview in is available, choose a Showcase or catalog to focus the list. Longer lists scroll and offer Load more.
- Select Apply changes to save, or Cancel to discard your proposed changes. Then check your published Showcase or catalog. Changing price or inquiry settings does not publish an artwork.
An inheritance example
Enable inquiries in your organization default and leave an artwork on Use surface default. Visitors can inquire about it on your Showcase. If one catalog has Disable inquiries selected, the same artwork has no inquiry option in that catalog. A catalog using Use organization default follows your shared choice.
Changing a shared default updates artworks and catalogs that inherit from it. Existing artworks may still have their own choices, and older catalogs may keep their previous rules until you review and apply changes to that catalog. Check the current settings rather than assuming everything inherits.
For visitors and collectors
- Where inquiries are enabled, use Inquire to contact the organization about an artwork. An inquiry is a conversation, not a purchase or reservation; it can also be available for a work without a displayed price or marked Sold.
- Showcase About links and catalog links back to the organization are easier to spot and use on mobile and with a keyboard.
